Investing in Bahrain’s Second Largest University

During 2020, GFH acquired alongside its strategic partners the University of Technology Bahrain (“UTB”), previously known as AMA International University-Bahrain, further building our Group’s local and regional education portfolio currently valued at US$250 million and growing. The transaction, valued in excess of US$100 million, furthermore, sees GFH assume the lead in the management of the University on behalf of its partners, leveraging the Group’s strong and long-standing track record and experience in the sector.

UTB was established is the Kingdom in 2002, has quickly grown to be a leading provider of higher education for local and regional students. It offers international standard undergraduate and graduate programmes in the fields of Finance and Business Administration, Computer Science and Engineering and is the second largest university in the Kingdom after the University of Bahrain. As of academic year 20-21, the University’s student body stood at c. 2,500 across its various degree programmes. This number is anticipated to grow in coming years following the University’s successful accreditation at the end of 2019 from the Higher Education Council and reaccreditation received from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (“ABET”), which shall continue to attract positive enrolment from across the GCC and beyond.
